UP AND COMING BLACK FEMALE DIRECTOR TO KEEP ON YOUR RADAR
LOS ANGELES (January 6th 2017) – Ty Whittington, an emerging African American female director, who directed and produced “Divine Decree, a short film that is slated to release early this year. It is a breath of fresh air in an industry dominated by men.
“Divine Decree” is a short film written and produced by Seana Goodson. The film is a modern day Cinderella story with a twist of fate. The film tackles the complex issues of love, parental separation and domestic violence. “This project is very near and dear to me,” says Goodson. “It was hard to trust anyone to direct my film, but when I sat in the first meeting with Ty and the DP, I was totally blown away by the creative visions that Ty created and produced. It was that moment that I knew I was able to trust the film in her hands.”
There is a severe scarcity of gender representation in the film and television industry. This is something that Ty Whittington wants to change. Ty started her own production company, BossChic Films, in 2013. She is a visionary director who thrives on the challenge of new opportunities. She has created a series of new independent shows, music videos and short films. Ty has an ever expanding repertoire of films behind her. Ty Whittington is sure to lead the way for other female filmmakers all working for equal representation.
